present moment car wash single channel video 3.5 minutes 2002 This video was produced using a program I wrote to edit videos for me based on binary input. Two tracks of video are played at the same time, then an independent file is translated into binary. Every time a 0 occurs a frame is pulled from 'video A', every time a 1 occurs a frame is pulled from 'video B'. Here the results are displayed in bytes (8 characters at a time) The footage used is from my car passing through a car wash, looking out the front and back windshields; edited by a journalistic text file metaphorically reflecting on a cleansing path of memory, representing that while looking forward and backward you are only ever standing in the present moment. |
